The title of specialist attorney (“Fachanwalt”) is awarded by the Bar Association to criminal defenders who can demonstrate extensive practical experience from a high number of personally handled cases and who prove their in-depth theoretical knowledge in several examinations. An annual continuing-education requirement ensures this knowledge stays current. The title is therefore an independently audited proof of certified expertise.

I am a criminal defense attorney out of conviction. Often, I am the first point of contact for people who have just received the devastating news that the public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation against them. In those moments, I stand by the side of people whose lives are suddenly thrown into turmoil by criminal proceedings.
Many of my clients have never stood before a criminal court. My goal is to keep it that way. Especially at the start of proceedings, swift assistance is decisive. An initial assessment and concrete recommendations can achieve a great deal. It is essential to recognise all the opportunities and risks of a defense early on. You do not have to say anything about the matter — and you should not now. Not a word about the case: not to the police, and not among family and friends. Once something has been said, it cannot be taken back. A calm “I would like to speak to my lawyer first” is entirely enough.
